2322 GMT [Dow Jones]--If a bidder was to emerge for Regis Resources then Bell Potter thinks Evolution Mining would be the best fit. Evolution has an established, successful operating and permitting track record in Australia's New South Wales state with its Cowal gold mine, the bank says. And at the Ernest Henry operation, Evolution has had great success with the minority economic interest ownership model, it adds. "Regis would meet most or all Evolution's stated acquisition objectives, including upgrading the overall quality of its portfolio," analyst says in a note. "We see relative valuations as being in Evolution's favor and that there are value accretive opportunities in relation to debt funding and gold hedging."
