$US600m looks about right, give or take $US100m. We can leave arguments about Groote Eylandt's longevity to AAL negotiators.
This sum is easily digestible by S32, with or without Illawarra coal sale funds.
I imagine GK & team are also closely watching the auction of AAL's Brazil nickel mines Barro Alto and Codemin which produce ~40ktpa. S32's Cerro Matoso nickel mine in Columbia produces about the same.
Nickel is unfashionable. Brazil is unfashionable. The transaction price ought to be modest. I like buying straw hats in winter.
