Sandfire Resources (ASX:SFR) has discovered 16.5 metres at 18.9% copper and 2.1g/t gold from 409.5 metres at the Monty Prospect, which is located within Talisman Mining's (ASX:TLM) Springfield Project.
Sandfire said that the hole is still in progress and is currently at a depth of 745 metres downhole.
The drilling is part of an exploration farm-in joint venture between Talisman and Sandfire.
This is the first significant intersection of high-grade copper-gold mineralisation to be discovered within either Talisman’s or Sandfire’s Doolgunna Projects outside of the known lenses of VMS mineralisation at DeGrussa.
DeGrussa is just 10 kilometres from Monty.
Sandfire has the right to earn up to a 70% interest in Talisman’s Doolgunna Project (including Springfield) by the expenditure of $15 million on exploration.
