Sedgman Ltd (ASX:SDM) has won an $85 million contract for work at the Bengalla mine in New South Wales.

Under the agreement, the resource sector services provider says it will design, procure, construct and commission an upgrade of the coal handing and preparation plant at Bengalla.

The upgrade is expected to boost the plant's capacity from 1,200 tonnes per hour to 1,700 tonnes per hour, and is due to be completed in early 2012.

Sedgman has confirmed that its outlook for the following year remains extremely positive, underpinned by record levels of forward orders and targeted projects.

Sedgman increased its profit to $24.99 million in the year to 30 June 2010.
