News: Seven West refutes it is in talks with Fair

Seven West Media Limited (ASX:SWM) has refuted speculation it is in talks with fellow media group Fairfax Media Limited (ASX:FXJ). 

 

The Kerry Stokes-led media business says while it does not generally comment on rumours it is not involved in any discussions with Fairfax. 

 

Making the comments after the market closed on Friday Seven West addressed the reports which have relentlessly suggested a merger could create benefits for both. 

 

The reports re-surfaced last week when a News Corp (ASX:NWS) publication claimed Fairfax Chairman Roger Corbett is positioning the company for an alliance. 

 

Fairfax Media Limited (ASX:FXJ) has not as yet officially responded to the speculation. 

 

Seven West Media reported a net profit of $150 million in the first half of the 2014 financial year.
