These “penalties” are all about keeping the house lights on and avoiding the disruption that finding new owners for the casinos would cause. But it’s at the expense of proper accountability for misconduct, while inappropriately shielding shareholders from the downside of egregious corporate misbehaviour.

Star might also expect the lenient treatment that Crown has received. But a clear line now needs to be drawn. If the punishment is to fit the crime, surely gaming companies must be properly penalised by losing the casino licences they have proven unsuitable to hold.

    (from today's media reporting)

I find it absolutely ridiculous that a company can be punished for assisting with money coming into the country.
