In the ACCC's media release about WES the ACCC said after its investigation it concluded there was sufficient competition in the form of CW, Coles and WOW with regards to pharmaceuticals and beauty products for WES to enter the sector.

The ACCC will probably run its eye over the merger and there is no guarantee the merger will go through but recently the ACCC has come out and complained the ACCC doesn't have the tools when it comes to stopping mergers and the ACCC can only take court action against a merger after the fact.

WES is a giant conglomerate (the same WES that owns Bunnings and Officeworks) with a market cap of $63 billion which now has a foothold in the pharmacy sector and you are concerned about its smaller competitor CW which has an $8 billion valuation taking over a dog like SIG? Would you prefer WES to dominate the pharmacy sector and crush its competitors like it's dominating hardware and office supplies to the detriment of the consumer? How many small local hardware stores and office supply stores do you see today?

With all due respect pharmacists have become nothing more that glorified retail assistants and that's because whenever they try to expand into anything medically related the AMA is on the attack and shuts them down. CW has not curtailed the pharmacy profession, the doctors have.
