    Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (ASX:SGT) will launch fourth-generation mobile network services in Singapore by the end of the end of this year.



    SingTel Singapore CEO, Allen Lew, has told Reuters that the telco is aiming to ramp up multimedia services with 200 base stations in the country.



    SingTel is also targeting to boost revenue generated from information and communication technologies from 25 per cent to 50 per cent within five years.



    Last month fellow telco Telstra Corporation Ltd (ASX:TLS) announced that it has switched on its first 4G base stations around Australia.   



    Singapore Telecommunications posted a profit of $2.9 billion in the year to 31 March 2011.
