I'm sure you're right. Appian probably has many considerations that motivate them to keep chasing Harte, but none bigger than trying to get back the $100m they've already invested.

This is an opportunistic play by SLR. At the end of the day, SLR can just walk away if Appian wins because Appian will still need to pay SLR out. In which case, I would say that SLR are still in the box seat because they can take or leave any offer from Appian to sell the mine to SLR. We already know there are not very many other interested parties. We already know Appian is not a miner, they can't mine the gold themselves with their pencil's and fancy suits.
