South Boulder Mines (ASX:STB) has appointed mining and finance industry executive John Fitzgerald as a non-executive director of the company.
He is the managing director of Optimum Capital Pty Ltd, a corporate and debt advisory business focussed on the mining sector.
Fitzgerald previously held senior positions at NM Rothschild and Sons, Investec Bank Australia, Commonwealth Bank and HSBC Precious Metals.
He is also a non-executive director of Northern Star Resources Limited and Chairman of Mungana Goldmines Limited.
“John's experience, expertise and relationships will be particularly beneficial as we move through completion of the PFS and DFS into more detailed discussions with potential financiers, off-takers and strategic investors,” chairman Seamus Cornelius said.
South Boulder Mines has commenced a technical review of the Colluli Potash Project in Eritrea and is on track to deliver the Pre-Feasibility Study for production of potassium sulphate (SOP) this month.
SOP is a premium potash fertiliser which achieves a higher price in the market relative to the more common potassium chloride.
Work has also started on the Definitive Feasibility Study pilot work and process optimisation testwork.
