Latest exploration drilling by Stellar Resources at its Heemskirk project in Tasmania points to an extension of one of the three areas of mineralisation which the company hopes to mine. The latest drilling has identified a down plunge from the Queen Hill deposit, with grades of the best intersections ranging from 0.5% to 2.0% Sn. The current JORC resource for the project is 6.28 million tonnes at 1.14% Sn for 71,500 tonnes of contained tin.
Stellar's Managing Director Peter Blight said "Drilling around the Queen Hill deposit has demonstrated significant potential to expand the mineral resource. Drill hole ZQ129 intersected ore grade tin 150 metres down plunge from the mineral resource envelope and within 150 metres of the Montana deposit. If these deposits are connected it opens up the potential for additional resources and a more efficient mine plan. We are currently studying the geology around and within tin intersections to refine our targeting ahead of a drilling program planned to commence in December quarter at the Severn deposit."
Severn is the largest of the three deposits. A pre-feasibility study on the project completed last year envisaged an underground mine producing some 4,300 tpy of tin-in-concentrate.
