Capital Notes are a type of security called a hybrid. If you are not familiar with them you should really do some research or speak to a financial advisor before investing.
A lot of the advisor industry attitude towards hybrids for retail "mum & dad" investors has been quite negative, due to the complexity of the risks involved, but they have been very popular with both sophisticated and retail investors as cash rates and bond rates are both so terrible. They are an intermediate level risk product, riskier than government bonds or investment grade corporate bonds, but not as risky as ordinary shares.
