Brisbane based insurance company Suncorp Group Limited (ASX:SUN) has spruiked the benefits of flood mitigation.The company reports new analysis has found two flood mitigation projects in Queensland will bring economic benefits at least five times more than their cost.Suncorp Group says the figures add more weight to the Productivity Commission’s calls for increased Federal Government investment in natural disaster mitigation.The company believes effective flood mitigation protects communities, safeguards property, builds stronger economies and reduces the cost of insurance.Suncorp Group says if flood mitigation is properly done in the right place it is one of the smartest investments governments can make.Suncorp Group reported a net profit of $737 million in the 2014 financial year.
