Sydney Airport Limited (ASX:SYD) has launched a new and expanded ambassador program as part of a focus on growing tourism.

The owner of Sydney Airport describes its ambassadors as “the smiling face of the airport” who have provided help, assistance and directions since 1999.

The latest developments include new blue uniforms to standout while also reflecting Sydney’s harbour and beaches.

Every ambassador will also be handed a new iPad minis throughout their shift to provide flight arrival and departure information and translation.

Sydney Airport’s ambassador program has 130 volunteers working across T1 and T2 who will be joined by an extra 50 Red Ambassadors over the Christmas and Lunar New Year period.

Sydney Airport generated a net profit of $176 million in the first half of its 2014 financial year.
