Australia is a modern democracy with excellent health, education and personal freedoms.

No one knows exactly why the mega fauna became extinct.

There were only a handful of aboriginal tribes in the Melbourne region.
They would have been known to Philip and there would have been opportunities to develop a respectable rapport with the natives..
