Sydney Airport Holdings Limited (ASX:SYD) has announced that low cost carrier, Tiger Airways, has chosen Sydney Airport to establish a base from mid this year.
Tiger's move is expected to more than double the number of daily flights to and from Sydney from 18 to 38.
Sydney Airport says the new base will also create 150 direct jobs and stimulate employment in the tourism and services sectors.
Last month Sydney Airport said the company’s vision is to deliver a better passenger experience, more efficient airline operations and growing tourism and business travel to New South Wales and Australia.
Sydney Airport booked a net loss of $279.4 million in the full 2011 financial year.
