Oct 14 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals were reported by 1000 GMT on Thursday:
** Telstra Corp (TLS) Ltd is close to completing a deal to buy the Pacific operations of telecommunications firm Digicel Group in partnership with the Australian government, two sources familiar with the bid told Reuters.
** Japanese retail group Aeon Co 8267.T announced a takeover bid for Can Do Co 2698.T , a popular chain offering household goods for 100 yen.
** Japan's Sumitomo Metal Mining 5713.T and Sumitomo Corp 8053.T agreed to sell their stakes in the Sierra Gorda copper mine in Chile to Australian miner South32 Ltd (S32) for around $1.5 billion, the companies said.
** Investment management firm Holocene Advisors said it will not back Merck & Co's MRK.N offer to buy Acceleron Pharma Inc XLRN.O for $180 per share, saying it significantly undervalues the drugmaker.
