I do think the financial risk is being overplayed by some, but i agree corporations cant walk away from such actions, legally (but IANAL), or morally.
I seriously doubt BHP would even consider trying to prevent proper legal processes from taking place, it would destroy trust with other governments and impact their business for decades. And from the start they have being doing and saying the right and proper things to my knowledge.
On the other hand if the prosecutors are abusing their power and acting out of vengeance rather than justice, then someone has to stand up to them.
