5 Billion from Samarco. So you think BHP is liable for 2.5 billion ? . No 5 billion is what is government want BHP and Vale to pay. But BHP is not going to pay that 2.5 billion and market is not expecting that amount to be payed by BHP. Reports from different sources indicate it is 1.1 billion, not confirmed by BHP.
Another 1.1 billion losses means that BHP would have had an actual total loss of nearly 500 million for the previous year. Remember BHP is giving Aud around $0.20 div (as it has declared around 500 mill profit before writedowns) . In reality there should not be a div cause BHP made a loss of 500 mill. Lot of people have BHP as part of there super, do you think those funds are going to keep BHP ?
