May 16 (Reuters) - New Zealand's Fonterra Co-operative (FCG) said on Thursday it was looking at a full or partial divestment of its global consumer unit, as well as its Oceania and Sri Lanka businesses.

The divestment plan comes as the global dairy firm focuses on its core business of ensuring sustainable milk supply.

"This is a significant move for the Co-op which will set it up to grow long-term value for farmer shareholders and unit holders," Fonterra Chairman Peter McBride said.

The dairy co-operative also terminated its on-market share buyback programme scheduled to end in mid-August.
