Australia not defending its citizens from foreign powers has the direct effect of making Australians knowledgeable in defense and military technologies unwilling to work on ANY military related projects including in Australia. Who can tell what countries will no longer be flavor of the month or on somebodies s-list in the future. It has also crippled Australia's intelligence gathering capabilities.
