Normally I agree with much of what you say, but this post overlooks the extreme hypocrisy and the privilege that this body has and the extraordinary lengths it goes to to protect its own after committing crimes the equal of any murder.

These are supposed to be the go-to guys in a time of trouble and yet they are way more dangerous than the average Joe in the street. People are not dismissing gun violence, they are dumbfounded and angered by the dimension of crimes committee to children by a body that has a responsibility to protect.

And they lie so easily, with no effort whatsoever. It's not just a single crime, this is a cabal of predators spread across the globe. One wonders just what they'd have to do before they would outlaw or deregister this religion, because that is what should happen. One has to wonder at the type of person who remains in such a religion when this religion has been exposed time and again as for so many despotic acts.

There was such a systematic process going on here, from the legal identity structure of the Catholic church that protected them from substantive payouts, to the covering up and the moving priests sideways to continue their perversions, to the somewhat indifference to the victims and it perpetrators made it all the way to cardinal, no checks and balances along the way, that's why people are up in arms.

The reaction to gun violence is also substantive in the US. Young people are doing their best against a system that is not that dissimilar to the Catholic church.
