Department 13 (D13.ASX):   Department 13 is developing cutting edge software and communication systems for counter drone solutions.  The drone industry has grown rapidly and is estimated it could be worth up to $100bn in the coming years.  D13 recently announced that the US Department of Defence had awarded an initial Technology Development Contract to develop specialized technology and products for a counter-drone solution.

 

The Pitch is a new initiative from the team at The Sophisticated Investor. 

A typical management interview gives investors an update on recent results and short term targets, which is great for investors that are already informed about the company’s business.  However, new investors are typically left with more questions than answers as this is their first introduction to the company.

The Pitch aims to rectify this as we ask management to give us all the key information about the company in less than 3 minutes (or the time it takes to go up an elevator).  And as with all companies we interview, we only highlight those that we believe have strong long term fundamentals for investors.
