News: Village buys into film sales & distribution company

    Village Roadshow Limited (ASX:VRL) is set to buy about one-third of a US based international film sales and distribution company called FilmNation Entertainment. 
     
    Village Roadshow says its film distribution division Roadshow Films will continue as distributor of FilmNation films in Australia and New Zealand. 
     
    The acquisition is expected to consolidate another supply channel for Roadshow Films and enable growth of its content library both in product volume and diversity.  
     
    Village Roadshow says the deal is also of strategically important as the digital market for film continues to grow with emerging digital platforms seeking quality content. 
     
    Village Roadshow reported a net profit of $46.61 million in the 2014 financial year.
