The Virgin Blue Group (ASX:VBA) of airlines has appointed Sankar Narayan as its new Chief Financial Officer, starting in April this year.

Mr Narayan has previously been the CFO of Fairfax Media and Foxtel. Most recently he held the role of Chief Financial Officer of Astro All Asia Networks, a media organisation with interests across regions including Malaysia, India, China, the Middle East and Australia.

He will replace Keith Neate, who resigned last month.

Virgin Blue Holdings reported a half yearly profit of $21.3 million to June 30, 2010.
