And Iluka have high levels of thorium and uranium in the mozanite grain concentrate they produce- they need material to dilute it. They have 2 big clay lined pits planned…
Lynas are running out of the easy regolith material holding the REO clay hosting material- after that it’s carbonatite hard rock.
Plus the Sm that the US DEPT Defence are after from Lynas (it’s another MREO for PMSM’s, esp in drones for them) - hasn’t been classified in the carbonatite as far as I know ( it’s 2.2% of the TREO there).
Lynas are investing in Sm separation ( as well as and and Pr) so need volumes as well.
