Clearly there is a culture problem at WBC if these sorts of compliance breaches are going on in this day and age. Almost 3 decades ago, as a young graduate, I was warned not to join Westpac given the culture among management was viewed as intensely political. Soon after came the revelations of bankers enjoying the good life while neglecting good credit standards, while a "master of the universe" culture pervaded their traders. This bank is a bad penny, it always turns up when there is trouble afoot.
