why would you by a car with dual propulsion requiring dual servicing?

I think people who see range as an issue need to consider how much they actually drive in a day. Realistically that is an issue of ignorance for 90% of drivers. I think that one of the things that ICE manufacturers have over EVs at the moment is that consumers fail to consider to total cost of ownership of a vehicle over it's lifetime rather than just the obvious stuff.

Speaking in general terms, if you drive on average about 15,000 km per year in an average 8l/100k car with petrol at 1.75 then you're likely to be spending about 2100 per year in fuel. If you ACTUALLY took that money and saved it and beat inflation by 2.5% then after 10 years you have close to 25k and I'd be willing to bet that in 10 years a battery replacement will not still be 30k, so outside of that there isn't actually much of a like for like cost difference between ICE and EV if you are in the market for a 70k car.

If however, like me, you cannot justify spending 70k on something whose essential function is to get you from A to B then you are currently priced out of the market and in that instance the uptake on EV is impacted.
