I haven't seen a circumstance where an ASX listed company's board or MD chooses to disagree with their auditor, but then I might not have paid attention. I would have thought they would agree to write up the accounts as the auditor wants them, and then provide lots of comments as to what the "underlying" situation is in their view. Otherwise they are inviting ASIC to have an opinion on the accounts now, I suspect. At least they are being transparent, so no complaints there.
