Webjet Ltd (ASX:WEB) has reported a 15 per cent lift in the value of ticket sales for the six months to December 31.

The online travel agent says total transaction values were $285 million, compared to $248 million the year before.

In the same half year period transaction fees rose by around 25 per cent.

Webjet says this is reflective of the unit value of airfares declining relative to last year, because of sales initiatives and bargain hunting customers.

The company estimates its transaction volumes have jumped more than double the growth rate in the leisure market.

On Wednesday shares in Webjet added 2.89 per cent to close at $2.49.

In the year to 30 June 2010, Webjet posted a net profit of $10.5 million.
