Scottish engineering company Weir Group has officially withdrawn its bid for mining services company Ludowici Limited (ASX:LDW).

Last month Weir made a competing bid for Ludowici to rival a takeover bid from Danish engineering group FLSmidth launched in January.

Weir’s withdrawals now leaves FLSmidth as the sole bidder, who is offering Ludowici shareholders $11 per share.

Ludowici posted a net profit of $10.7 million in the 2011 calendar year.
