If you don't have agreed performance plans in place that outline explicitly the expectations, goals and measures for meeting performance, then yeah ya gonna have problems. If you don't have a probation period where you actually check in, monitor and assess how new starters are going, ya gonna have problems. If your recruitment doesn't include basic skills and competencies tests, ya gonna have problems. These are pretty standard tools that if implemented and done right by management will get you and develop a good workforce. "Intersectionality" won't save you from these processes, and neither will being a straight, old, white man who might have just the same performance flaws. Sounds like BHP doesn't have or do this stuff properly.
