July 19 (Reuters) - Australia's Whitehaven Coal (WHC) posted a 91.8% jump in its fourth-quarter production on Friday, underpinned by strong performance at its New South Wales operations and Narrabri, coupled with production from its recently acquired Queensland business.
The country's top independent coal miner said its managed run-of-mine (ROM) coal production for the three months ended June 30 was 9.7 million tonnes (Mt), compared with 5.1 Mt a year earlier.
The company's Blackwater and Daunia mines in Queensland, which it recently purchased from BHP Group (BHP) , produced 4.8 Mt, their first quarterly production under Whitehaven's ownership.
Production at its Narrabri coal mine more than doubled, compared to the third quarter, following engineering upgrades early in the June quarter.
Additionally, the miner said the potential sale of its 20% stake in Blackwater mine is progressing.
