In this case the mineralogy between the soft granite and hard granite was not the case. In the original studies a lot of the material Wolf treated for the first 8 months was excluded as waste. The balance in the plant was totally wrong from day one with a higher fraction of tungsten in the minus 65 micron range which was de-slimmed straight to the tails thickener. There was no way around this as the slimes had to be removed for the spiral plant. Several modifications were made to both the primary and secondary deslime cyclones to get the % of feed reporting to U/F above 55%. Even prior to this the balance between the split to the DMS which should have been 60/40 was the other way around at 60 to 70% to the fines plant, with 30-40% to DMS, of this a lot of the material was ultrafine clays, hence the balance to the tailings system was also out. Over time the balance of the ratios improved, but was still not where the design criteria had put the numbers.
