Australian supermarket giant Woolworths Limited (ASX:WOW) has teamed up with eBay Australia, part of the world’s largest online marketplace eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY).The partnership will enable eBay buyers to pick up their online purchases in more than 90 selected Woolworths and BIG W stores.The service will initially launch across Sydney and Tasmania and allow buyers to choose from more than 40,000 items on eBay.Both retailing giants say they have launched the service in response to the growing online retail landscape and consumer demand.Woolies and eBay hope the service will offer entrepreneurs and small to large business the chance to boost their reach and introduce an additional revenue stream.Woolworths reported a net profit of $2.45 billion in the full 2014 financial year.
