Aug 26 (Reuters) - Woolworths Group (WOW) announced a A$2 billion ($1.45 billion) share buyback on Thursday and posted a 20% jump in annual profit on the back of strong demand for household essentials sparked by lockdowns.
Australia's biggest supermarket chain posted a net profit after tax from continuing operations before significant items of A$1.50 billion, up from A$1.25 billion a year ago. ($1 = 1.3748 Australian dollars)
