Expected, as it had to pull back from such dizzying heights it was experiencing. Especially with the tapering off of Govt stimulus payments. Though, retail volumes are still up 7.1% YoY though, and were not even into the Christmas spend period!
I would keep any eye on the preliminary release ABS does, usually due out 2 weeks before the monthly release on Retail Trade stats. This will provide for somewhat of a leading indicator before the final monthly release.
Also, it'd pay to watch similar releases in the US, and now UK. As trends in TTV for Zip will no doubt begin to be dominated by these markets.
