Note in your minds eye the 40 years cycle with a low in 1930 and then 1970
We are now 4 years along a 20 year expected up move -  which theoretically started in 2010
Massive population inflation is of course the main driver - as expressed by the large divergence of the population line crossing the agriculture price index
These sorts of divergences speak volumes
Interesting that population has increased to the extent that it has and yet agriculture prices have trended down for 110 years

I wouldn't be selling agriculture for the long term in an economic environment where subsidies are becoming unfashionable globally
You cant fight these sorts of trends  . .

What goes around comes around - and the era of the farmer is returning - with the added benefits of technology to boost efficiencies

A humble agricultural supplier like ELD - if run properly - can only benefit from this forming super trend
The first challenge is to get back to basics after a disastrous diversification attempt a decade ago
and the next challenge is to harness the Australian branding and the legacy of the company of 175 years to defend its market share against foreign competitors . . . at least ELD is playing in its home ground

Another aspect is that Australia's reputation overseas, for quality produce, carries a positive perception
We are clean and highly regulated
