You can access Mintsy in alpha phase. What people dont realise is that using Mintsy, Mining power can be diverted to any of products traded on Cryptsy exchange, not just bitcoin. A lot of these "alt coins" are speculative however there is a hard core community who really like trading, using and devloping coins based on Bitcoin protocol. An example i found is Maza Coin, a coin being issued by a Sioux tribe in the USA. Now these NAtive Americans still have reservations where they have some autonomy and they are ripe for experimentation in this field. A lot of them have favourable gambling regulations as well!!
there are other coins like LiteCoin, DarkCoin, soon to be released Zifter, that have sizeable market caps as well.
So with Mintsy you can buy mining power and then divert it to any coin you feel worth mining, you can change your mind and divert it to another coin if you want, and you can even sell it on (for example maybe a bitcoin price explosion made mining power valuable all of a sudden.).
