NewSat to launch Jabiru-2 satellite in early 2014

Australian satellite operator NewSat is scheduled to launch Ka-band satellite Jabiru-2 in early 2014. The Ka-band satellite Jabiru-2 will deliver enhanced coverage at 216 MHz capacity to enable communication for resource projects in and around Australia. Jabiru-2 is designed for resource regions in the Pilbara, Kimberley, North West Shelf and Timor Gap. NewSat has already collaborated with one resource company, Atlas Iron, who are an independent Australian iron ore company based in Western Australia. NewSat is providing Atlas exploration teams with VSAT-enabled satellite communications trailers that deliver mobile broadband services. The VSAT dish deploys and aligns with the relevant satellite, providing connectivity including internet connectivity, real-time data transfer, video conferencing and information-sharing.
