I personally think the too many shares angle is hot air, from memory I recall BHP having somewhere between 4 to 5 billion shares, Telstra 12 Billion.
The amount of shares isn't the issue here, the issue here is people buying a stock they truly don't believe in and then ultimately sell at a lower price, hurting the rest of us believers.
Just my rant for the day, glad I got that off my chest
