SKKMigas calls for expedited
gas and oil exploration
The Jakarta Post, Jakarta | Business | Wed, July 24 2013, 10:13 PM Upstream oil and gas regulatory special task force SKK Migas has called for expedited gas and oil exploration given the fact that both resources are limited.
According to recent estimates, Indonesia will run out of gas and oil in respectively 44 and 12 years.
“We still have time to either explore new reserves and mull new resources,” SKK Migas chief Rudi Rubiandini said on Wednesday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
He said SKK Migas had instructed all operators and field contractors to boost exploration in order to find new reserves. Indonesia has 112 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of gas, which accounts for 1.7 percent of world gas reserves.(hrl/dic)
