Hell there is a difference between consternation and panic. Consternation is when your yacht is sinking and it's surrounded by sharks. Panic is when you jump overboard.
The yanks have watched their market with consternation. They haven't moved to full-on panic yet on either the DOW or S&P. Maybe they will, maybe they won't but if they do it'll be easy to recognise.
