I reside in NSW and consequently getting to the AGM isn't always convenient. I suppose over the past 10 years I would have made it to 4 maybe 5 meetings. I didn't attend this year or in 2013 so may have missed out on a few unreported items.
But of the times I've gone, I always left with some mixed feelings. The feelgood part was to see what Pan had put in place for the local population - education, agriculture, jobs, health programmes etc. and hence Pan having been the recipient of awards in Asia for the company's endeavours for the local community.
The other side of the coin has always been the allocation of shares to Gary Stafford as part of his remuneration package. Having already received, in my way of looking at it, a pretty decent salary, then over and above this is the allocation of company shares. It always seemed to be put to the meeting that if Pan wasn't prepared to pay these packages then some other company would.
Back to the feelgood aspect - I can't see that it would have been on the implementation of the Board, particularly the current Board, so I would be thinking Gary could take most of the responsibility for those initiatives.
So if all of this come to an Extraordinary General Meeting to be thrashed out, Gary would get my vote - or put another way, the existing Chairman wouldn't.
