I have wondered this as well.
I can't imagine anyone actually earning their money would be supportive of further taxes.
It surely would mainly be supported by those on welfare or on a low income who complacently believe they will be compensated. If so, it seems somewhat hypocritical that they don't care as long as it won't affect them.
But they will complain loudly if they also find themselves victims of a deceitful campaign.
