The first post-election Newspoll conducted exclusively for The Australian shows a 2.6 per cent lift in the coalition’s primary vote since its surprise victory on May 18 to a three and a half year high of 44 per cent.

It is the best result for the Coalition since January 2016 and opens up an 11 point primary vote lead over Labor.

The Coalition now leads Labor 53/47 on a two party vote marking a significant honeymoon period for the government after it was re-elected on a margin of 51.5/48.5 per cent.
