I am no rock doctor but I am unaware of the science that allows you to determine how far sediments have travelled whether its 40m, 400m or 4km so specifically. Maybe they could elaborate more and enlighten us plebs.
Maybe there is a rock doctor on HC that can enlighten us.

I think people are questioning the fact they have provided this 4KM number. it seems very specific.

My understanding is study of sediments can allow you to determine if its travelled far or not far and the type of region/location that it was likely to come from. So to come up with 4 km would indicate that they are only letting us in on one part of the eqaution that they used to come up withthe number.

Anyway, fingers crossed lets wait (again) and see
