    I wonder about this “manipulation”
    In reality there are very few shares being traded at these “manipulated prices.”
    And indeed:
    Given the total number of shares on issue,
    the number held by directors,
    the number held by large shareholders, all of which are not for sale,
    there are not significant numbers of shares available anyway.

    And the only way someone can get a significant number is to pay higher prices.
