Hypothetically, let's assume you are a self-funded retiree with a self-managed super fund, and way back at the beginning of this year you bought 25,000 PLS shares at the rising share price of $2. By now you would be enjoying a capital gain of 150%. You'd be on first-name terms with Dale and the other directors and you would pray daily that they don't all get hit by a bus, or invite ex-AVZ pumpers-and-dumpers to the party. There are rumours that the company might pay 25 cents per share fully franked dividend soon. You don't really need the money and, with Goldman Sacks announcing that lithium is out of fashion now, PLS is a strong buy at say the $4.80 as we have seen this week, you might as well reinvest it in PLS. That's going to increase your average buy price to, crikey, $2.50? So as another ship docks at port to gather another load of pre-auctioned spodumene you lean forward on your zimmer frame and blow gently on your finger tips as you join the ranks of Apple, Facebook, Amazon and Twitter, as none of you will pay a cent of tax on your investments. Hypothetically.
