On market buying is promising, but remember David Attenborough earnt several million dollars a year in his tenure as CEO of the combined entity. I imagine the current executive salaries will be about half of those for the combined entity - still big money! Obviously that creates some disincentive for management to sell quickly.
My feeling is if the whole of Tabcorp was put up for sale at $1.50 per a share (EV of 3-3.5B) you would have a buyer tomorrow.
